Overview
WeatherDock turns a phone or tablet into an always-on weather and clock display. It has no user accounts, no advertising, and no analytics. We do not operate any server that stores your data — everything the app saves stays on your device.
Information We Collect
Location
If you grant location permission, WeatherDock reads your device's coordinates so it can show weather for where you are. Those coordinates are sent to the Open-Meteo weather service to retrieve a forecast, and are otherwise kept only on your device.
Location permission is optional. If you decline it, you can still use the app by adding cities manually, and no location is read at all.
Information We Do Not Collect
- No account, name, email address, or phone number
- No advertising identifier and no analytics identifier
- No contacts, photos, camera, or microphone access
- No browsing history or usage tracking
Third-Party Services
Open-Meteo (Weather Data)
Weather forecasts come from the Open-Meteo API. To fetch a forecast, the app sends latitude and longitude over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No identifier of you or your device is attached to the request. See Open-Meteo's terms and privacy information for how they handle requests.
Google Play Services (Location)
When you enable location, the app uses Google Play Services to obtain the device's coordinates. This happens on your device; see Google's Privacy Policy for their practices.
No Advertising or Payments
WeatherDock contains no advertising SDK and no in-app purchases. No advertising network receives any information from this app.
Data Storage
The following are stored locally on your device only, and are never uploaded:
- Cities you have saved, and their coordinates
- App settings such as refresh interval, temperature and wind units, and display options
- Recently fetched weather data, cached so the display still shows something when offline
Uninstalling WeatherDock removes all of this data from your device.
Permissions
- Internet — required to retrieve weather forecasts.
- Network state — used to check whether a connection is available before refreshing.
- Approximate and precise location — optional. Used only to look up weather for your current position.
You can revoke location permission at any time in your device's system settings without losing the rest of the app's functionality.
Data Security
All network communication uses HTTPS encryption. Because we operate no server and store no user data remotely, there is no user database that could be exposed.
Children's Privacy
WeatherDock is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app contains no age-inappropriate content.
Your Rights
You can decline or revoke location permission and continue using the app with manually added cities, and you can remove all locally stored data by uninstalling the app. If you have questions about how your information is handled, contact us at the address below.

This app is designed to comply with Google Play Developer Policies, the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) where applicable.
